What are clogged pores?

Your skin is covered in pores, they are tiny openings in the skin that release oil and sweat. Clogged pores are the result of dead skin cells getting trapped in your skin rather than being shed into the environment.
You can tell if your pores are clogged if you notice whiteheads, blackheads or an overall dullness to your skin's complexion


What causes clogged pores?

Environmental factors contribute to clogged pores. These include:
- Toxins in the air
- Noncomedogenic makeup
- Oil from your hands transferred when you touch your face
- Sweat

 

How can I prevent clogged pores?

You can prevent your pores from becoming clogged by doing the following:
- Follow a daily skincare regimen
- Use face washes that are labelled as 'noncomedogenic'
- Remove your makeup at the end of the day
- Exfoliate regularly
- Avoid touching your face
