Rosacea

A red rash on the face, rosacea is thought to be due to blood vessels in the skin dilating too easily or a reaction to microscopic mites commonly found on the face. Symptoms begin with flushing, but can develop into a burning and stinging feeling, permanent redness, papule spots and visible blood vessels.

Triggers for the condition include exposure to sunlight, stress, hot or cold weather, hot drinks, caffeine or alcohol and spicy food. While avoiding these causes can improve rosacea, oral medications and creams and gels applied to the skin can also help. Laser and LED light also reduces inflammation and visible blood vessels, improving the appearance of skin.
